Estoy Cansada

How and why is it only Tuesday? Yes it is 9:46 pm on Tuesday but still. There are only 3 days in my week, yet this feels like the longest week ever. This also feels like the longest semester ever.

Things to consider:

-If I become a professional botanist, I will have to take work home with me just like school. That thought does NOT appeal to me.

-Do not fail Genetics because it is a horrible class and I never want to take it again.

-Finding some way to lead a less stressful life and not be a bum?

5 Weeks Left

As of today, I got turned down for the internships in Kansas and Puerto Rico...but I don't care because I'm going to Spain!!!

I will find out about the Alaska one by the end of this week. That is the one that I want the most so maybe it will work out? I definitely wrote a good cover letter for it.

I'm so unmotivated with school right now...living in Redding for the summer, going to the lake and having a big garden sounds pretty freaking awesome right now. AND having a 5 month break BEFORE Spain (if I can't find a job) to study up on Spanish and various other languages sounds super nice!

I dissected a cow's eye for the 3rd time in my school career today. I'm a botany major. This shouldn't be happening. I would post a picture but I don't think anyone wants to look at it except me because I need to use it to study for my test on Wednesday.

After this week, only 5 weeks of classes left and then finals and then I'm done! Well, done for over a year and then I go back, which hopefully won't be really hard.

España!!!

Evan and I are officially going to Spain! I am going to be working/living in the Balearic Islands right in the middle of the Mediterranean Ocean!! I don't know what island (there are four) and I don't know what type of school I will be a teachers assistant in yet. I officially accepted the position today so hopefully I will find that out soon!

So excited that school is paying off for me already!

Shiitakes on Rice Noodles....Mmmm

So here are a few pictures of the things Evan and I have been making with our shiitakes!

We had a bit of a scare right before spring break when Evan cut all the mushrooms off the logs and then no more were growing back in. Now that we are back from Redding and Tahoe, we soaked them in the shower and they are starting to grow again!

I had a really good time in Redding, cross country skiing and just hanging with the family. It looks like I might be living in Redding for the summer if none of the jobs I have applied for pan out. Now that my parents are back together they want to fix up my dad's house (the house I grew up in) and use it as a rental. It needs to be worked on a lot so that is where Evan and I come into play! It would be so freaking sweet if Evan and I could live in a house instead of a tiny little apartment! And I could have a full sized garden! Not to mention kayaking on Whiskeytown all the time, playing indoor soccer out at Big League Dreams, and going camping a bunch. So far I have been turned down for 2 out of the 7 jobs I have applied for and I am still really hopeful I get something because I need experience!!! But I like the sound of this backup plan. I haven't lived in Redding since I went away to school and now that my family is actually really a family again I think it would be a great experience. Also, if I get the teaching assistant position in Spain, then I most likely won't see my family for 8 months. I should be finding out about that pretty soon!

Random side note, having a freshly cleaned apartment is very nice. I like being able to lay on the carpet and know that there are NOT little crumbs everywhere.

Tomorrow is St. Patricks Day, the day of car bombs (and green gin and tonics mmmm...) and a green cake that Evan and I are going to make.

I love Spring Break!

No voy a Costa Rica

It's official. I didn't get in to the Costa Rica REU. I'm really bummed because that was my top pick out of the 3 I applied for but hopefully I get one of the other ones. I wouldn't have minded seeing this again:
So, a week ago I had the flu and I am just getting over it again today. Basically I slept all day and night yesterday and had a very high fever and was not very productive at all. Getting the flu twice within 2 weeks is not fun. Hopefully I will be done being sick because this is ridiculous.
